BMW Motorrad Vision CE self-balancing electric scooter patented in India

Vision CE concept

BMW Motorrad has filed a design patent for its Vision CE electric scooter concept in India, suggesting the German manufacturer is at least evaluating the country as a potential market for the radical two-wheeler. The Vision CE was originally unveiled at IAA Mobility 2025 as a concept vehicle presenting BMW’s vision of electric urban mobility and has since been patented in multiple markets.

  1. Vision CE features an integrated protective cage
  2. Self-balancing system keeps the scooter upright when stationary

What we know about the Vision CE concept

The patent doesn’t necessarily confirm that an India launch is in the pipeline

The centrepiece of the Vision CE is a safety concept built around a metal tubular cage, which BMW says, when combined with an integrated seatbelt, is designed to allow riding without a helmet or riding gear. BMW drew a direct parallel with its C1 scooter from 25 years ago, which used a similar philosophy of protective bodywork in place of conventional riding gear.

The Vision CE can also balance itself when stationary, removing the need for the rider to put their feet down. BMW has not released powertrain specifications for the concept, describing it only as having an emission-free electric drive. However, the scooter has a low-slung design and long wheelbase, similar to what we’ve seen on the CE 04.

BMW Motorrad already sells the CE 04 electric scooter in India, priced at Rs 15.25 lakh (ex-showroom, India). A design patent filing does not confirm a production launch or any India-specific details. BMW Motorrad has not commented on when, or whether, the Vision CE will reach production, even in global markets.
