Niantic Pulls Zorua From Pokemon Go Because Of A Bug

Zorua and its evolution Zoroark were meant to have made their debuts in Pokemon Go this past week, as part of the game's ongoing Halloween events, however the trickster Pokemon has been pulled--or at least delayed, due to a bug. In keeping with its nature as a trickster Pokemon, Niantic had planned a unique event for Zorua's debut , where the Pokemon would appear on the map in the form of the player's buddy Pokemon, only revealing itself as Zorua when caught. The event seemed to run as intended for players in New Zealand, the first time zone to receive Pokemon Go events, however a second spawn didn't occur as planned, and players in Australia saw no sign of Zorua. According to a series of tweets by Niantic Support, the event was bugged, causing caught Zorua to take on the stats--including height, CP, and attacks--of the buddy Pokemon that was originally caught. While some players in early time zones were able to catch Zorua and add it to their Pokedex, the Pokemon t...

WoW: Dragonflight Players Have A Few Notes On The Game's UI Overhaul

After nearly two decades, World of Warcraft's user interface has received a major facelift, making it both more modern in appearance and more customizable without the needing multiple fan-made mods. But even if the new UI options added as part of the Dragonflight pre-patch are a giant step in the right direction for Blizzard's nearly 20-year-old MMORPG, players still have some feedback on how to make it even better. The first phase of Dragonflight's pre-patch dropped last night after an extended maintenance period, and in addition to new class talent trees, it added the new Edit Mode feature which allows players to (almost) fully customize the UI to their liking. Players have been sharing their new UI layouts on social media , and while the response to the changes have been largely positive, there are a few standout complaints. For starters, there are a few pieces of the UI that can't be moved. The vast majority of the UI can be scaled up or down and moved around t...

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Release Date Set For March 3, 2023

Team Ninja has announced that its upcoming Souls-like Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will officially launch on March 3, 2023. Set in a dark fantasy version of China during its warring Three Kingdoms period of history, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is aiming to be bigger in scale than Team Ninja's Nioh games and even more challenging. While its core structure will be familiar to fans of the genre--tough foes that can easily smash through your defenses, checkpoints that respawn enemies, and limited healing options--the game does have a much faster and more aggressive approach to that genre's foundation. After launch, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will receive three DLC packs that contain new stages, weapons, demons, and more. The game itself will also be available in several editions, including a deluxe digital version that comes with a season pass, digital artbook, and digital soundtrack. The game is entering a very busy month next year, as March 2023 will see the release of Capcom's Reside...

Naughty Dog Co-Developing New Game With TLOU Remake Studio And A New Team, Job Ad Says

A recently spotted job listing seems to suggest that The Last of Us developer Naughty Dog is working alongside the studio behind the game's recent remake on a new "high visibility" project. Not only that, but PlayStation may be creating a new internal game studio for this project, whatever it may be. A job ad spotted by Push Square at PlayStation Global calls for a senior producer who will work at a "new internal game development team" that PlayStation is building. The listing said this new team will work alongside PlayStation Studios Visual Arts--the team that worked on the Last of Us Remake--and Naughty Dog. "This high visibility project is being developed in collaboration with Naughty Dog. Though currently unannounced, we have a clear vision and plan to release. Using our existing expertise and premier talent, we will guarantee a high visual quality bar for the game and a compelling experience for our players," the listing said. The job ad is s...

Xbox Made More Money In Past 3 Months Than It Ever Has For A Q1 In 20-Year History

Microsoft has announced its latest earnings results, and this includes reporting on how the Xbox business specifically is performing. The Xbox division saw a 4% overall increase to revenue, reaching $3.61 billion, Windows Central reported . According to DomsPlaying on Twitter , this is a new all-time record for revenue in a Q1 period (Microsoft's Q1 ended September 30, 2022) for Xbox, dating back to the inception of Xbox more than two decades ago. Xbox hardware saw a 13% increase in revenue thanks to ongoing sales of Xbox consoles and accessories. Xbox content and services, however, saw a decline of 3% in revenue. Microsoft said the declines were attributed, in part, to lower first-party and third-party game sales. Microsoft also reported "lower engagement hours" during the period. However, "higher monetization" and growth in Xbox Game Pass subscriptions helped offset the overall declines. Microsoft did not announce a new Game Pass subscriber number, but CEO ...

Xbox Reportedly Passed On Genshin Impact

For the two years since it first released, Genshin Impact has been console exclusive to PlayStation, with a new report saying Xbox failed to reach a deal with developer MiHoYo while it was still in development. A recent Reuters report looks into Microsoft's focus on the Chinese game industry, citing missing out on Genshin Impact as one of the reasons behind its increased interest in the region. The game has earned billions just on mobile platforms , and presumably has made a lot of money for Sony across PlayStation 4 and 5 as well. An anonymous source quoted by Reuters claims that Xbox spoke to MiHoYo (now HoYoverse) when Genshin Impact was early in development but didn't reach a deal, something Microsoft now has regrets about. Another source claims that this experience is driving Microsoft's current search to recruit Chinese developers. They added that Genshin Impact has made a lot of money for Sony, though just how much is unclear, as there is no publicly available da...

Laura Bailey, a prolific voice actress who appeared in The Last of Us Part II as Abby, has said she would "definitely" return for another go-around as the character in a future experience. Speaking to Comic Book Movie , Bailey said she would be keen to come back, despite all the controversy and drama about her character. "I would definitely go back to her," she said. "I know there was a lot of drama and response to her character, but it was one of the most influential roles I've had in my life. I would 100% go back to play more Abby if the opportunity came up." I didn't anticipate the extent," Bailey said. Bailey also commented on HBO's upcoming Last of Us TV series, sa...

Zorua Is Coming To Pokemon Go Today--Here's How To Catch It

Over the past week, Pokemon Go has been teasing a Halloween-related event with found-footage style videos, which were suspiciously reminiscent of the trailer for Hisuian Zorua in Pokemon Legends: Arceus . The teasers posted by Pokemon Go included videos and screenshots with large numbers of Pokemon such as Noibat, Magikarp, and Pikachu spawning on the map, including references to Shuppet's Spotlight Hour. Now, Niantic has revealed that Zorua is the Pokemon behind these mysterious spawns, which are related to the buddy Pokemon the Trainer has accompanying them. Aha! Steam Breaks Another Record, Hits 30 Million Concurrent Users

Since the start of the pandemic, Steam has seen a rapid increase in concurrent users--that is, the number of people using the service at any one time. Now, according to Valve's own Steam Charts , Steam has hit a huge new milestone, reporting over 30 million users online at once on Sunday October 23. With the pandemic boosting the amount of time people have spent gaming, Steam has broken its own records fairly regularly over the last few years. Earlier this year the platform reported a peak of 28 million for the first time, and has continued to grow since then. The top five games being played during this weekend's peak were Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, DOTA 2, Lost Ark, Apex Legends, and PUBG: Battlegrounds. CS:GO made up over 1 million of the users counted online, with a peak of 1.05 million players on Sunday, but not everyone counted in Steam's 30 million users would have been in game, as it also includes users browsing stores or engaging in Steam's community f...

Square Enix Hints At Parasite Eve Project With New Trademark

Square Enix could be hinting at a new Parasite Eve project, as it has filed a new trademark in Japan. Spotted by Gematsu , Square Enix trademarked the name "Symbiogenesis," which is the process where two separate organisms merge to form a single new one. This process is the foundation for Parasite Eve's story. It's currently unknown whether a new Parasite Eve game from Square Enix would be a brand-new entry or just a port of older titles. It's also possible that Square Enix won't be doing anything with the Parasite Eve franchise either. However, Square Enix has been revisiting some of its older franchises recently. The Valkyrie Profile series received the new Valkyrie Elysium back in September and Tactics Ogre is getting a remaster next month as Tactics Ogre Reborn . Parasite Eve is based on the 1995 Japanese horror novel by Hideaki Sena and was adapted into the Parasite Eve video game in 1998 for the original PlayStation. Parasite Eve II followed short...

NFL Star JuJu Smith-Schuster Credits Call Of Duty With Helping Team Chemistry

NFL star JuJu Smith-Schuster of the Kansas City Chiefs has credited Call of Duty with playing a big role in helping his team to victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. During his post-game press conference, Smith-Schuster said his time in training camp and the pre-season helped form a level of chemistry between himself and other Chiefs players like Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling. But it was a video game--Call of Duty: Warzone--that Smith-Schuster credits with helping his team win on Sunday. On Friday night during game week, Smith-Schuster played Warzone with Mahomes, Kelce, and Valdes-Scantling, and they won three games in a row. That's hard for anyone to do, and Smith-Schuster says the teammates took those good vibes into Sunday's matchup against the 49ers. "We played three games. We won three games, back to back. We got off [the game] and were like, 'Damn.' It's really hard to win a game in Warzone," he said ( via C...

Silent Hill 2 Artist Takes Issue With Ancient Fan Theory

Silent Hill 2 is a game that leaves a lot for the player to interpret, thanks to its symbolism and complex lore. However, one popular fan theory has been swatted down by series artist Masahiro Ito, who seems to take particular umbrage with it. The theory states that player character James Sunderland is not looking at himself in the mirror during the game's iconic opening scene, but at you, the player. Such fourth-wall breaking wouldn't be anything new for the Silent Hill franchise, but it apparently was not intended in SH2, at least according to Ito. So many people have asked me. But it's a headcanon. James doesn't look at the player. pic.twitter.com/w40F7sBsJN — 伊藤暢達/Masahiro Ito (@adsk4) October 22, 2022 "So many people have asked me. But it's a headcanon. James doesn't look at the player," Ito tweeted, along with an image of the scene. "...In the first place, why does he have to see the player who exists in out of the story? He is now th...
