Triumph Speed Twin 1200 Cafe Racer Edition revealed

Triumph Speed Twin 1200 Cafe Racer Edition revealed

Triumph has revealed a new special edition neo-retro model called the Speed Twin 1200 Cafe Racer Edition overseas. This bike – as the name obviously suggests – is a cafe racer-styled machine that doesn’t look too dissimilar to the erstwhile Thruxton 1200 and is based on the same platform as the latest Speed Twin 1200 RS.

  1. Limited to 800 units worldwide, has a green/silver colourway
  2. 1200cc, twin-cylinder engine makes 105hp, 112Nm of torque
  3. Comes with a bidirectional quickshifter

Engine, chassis and electronics are all identical to Speed Twin 1200 RS

The Speed Twin 1200 RS Cafe Racer Edition is limited to just 800 units worldwide, and each bike will be supplied with a certificate of authenticity. The Speed Twin 1200 RS Cafe Racer Edition marks a brief return for Triumph’s large-capacity twin-cylinder cafe racer after the Thruxton 1200 was discontinued. To stay true to the cafe racer aesthetic, this limited edition bike has clip-on ’bars and is finished in a delectable dual-tone paint scheme of green/silver with lovely touches such as a quilted, tan leather seat as well as a colour-matched headlight cowl.

Underneath the gorgeous bodywork is the same 1,200cc twin-cylinder liquid-cooled engine as the Speed Twin 1200 models, making the same 105hp and 112Nm of torque. The same frame and high-end chassis parts, like a fully adjustable Ohlins suspension, Brembo monobloc brakes and sticky Metzeler Racetec RR K3 tyres are found here. Like the Speed Twin 1200 RS, this Cafe Racer Edition also comes with a bidirectional quickshifter, making it one of the few bikes in Triumph’s modern classic portfolio to boast this feature. The suite of riding aids is also shared with the Speed Twin 1200 RS.

At GBP 15,995 (around Rs 20.22 lakh), the Triumph Speed Twin 1200 Cafe Racer Edition is priced quite a bit higher than the Speed Twin 1200 RS (GBP 14,695 or around Rs 18.58 lakh) with which it is mechanically near-identical. However, all limited edition bikes command a premium over their standard counterparts for bespoke touches, sheer rarity and high-quality finishing. With just 800 units of this bike being made, chances of seeing it in India are quite slim.
