KTM India has revealed on social media that it will be ‘revealing more details’ about the new 390 Adventure S on January 30. However, the company hasn’t specified whether this is going to be a launch or if the specifications of the bike will be out on the given date.

  3. Likely to be priced in the Rs 3.50 lakh ballpark (ex-showroom)

KTM’s new 390 Adventure lineup will have three variants - base X, middle S and the top R. Of these three, the first two are confirmed to be coming to India and KTM’s social media post leads us to believe that the 390 Adventure S will be launched in India on January 30. The bike was first showcased at last year’s IBW festival, although no specifications were revealed. Since the bike has already been showcased previously, we expect that it will be launched on January 30. 

What we could deduce from the showcase is that the bike runs on 21/17-inch tubeless wire-spoked rims, gets adjustable suspension at both ends and will come with cruise control as standard. It gets new, slimmer bodywork, very angular styling and is shod with Apollo dual-purpose tyres. The same 5-inch TFT display which is seen on the 390 Duke is also seen on the Adventure S and we expect riding aids like riding modes, traction control and switchable ABS to carry over as well. 

The current middle 390 Adventure variant is priced at Rs 3.42 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and it remains to be seen what pricing strategy Bajaj adopts when the 390 Adventure S is launched.

TVS’ scooter market share increases in the April-January period

After seeing a sustained slowdown for over two years, India's scooter market is finally recovering. As per the wholesale numbers, released by Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), a total of 43,61,347 units were dispatched in the April 2022 to January 2023 period. This is an increase of 9,79,594 units or a 29 percent year-on-year increase - April 2021-January 2022 was 33,81,753 units. Petrol scooter OEMs market share: details The top five OEMs account for 41,35,615 units or 95 percent of the total but dissect this further and the top three players – Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI), TVS Motor Company and Suzuki – cumulatively have 36,69,244 units or 84 percent of the industry numbers.
