Fiat Panda line-up: what’s in store?
As reported by our sister publication Autocar UK, Stellantis will leverage its CMP modular platform further by adding more models to the Fiat Panda family. The Grande Panda sits on similar underpinnings as the Citroen C3 and a few other models that use the CMP platform. The CMP platform is Stellantis’ value-minded Smart Car platform. Originally engineered for developing markets and called the Common Modular Platform (CMP), it has been adapted for global models and can accommodate both internal combustion and battery-electric powertrains.
In future, Fiat has plans to introduce bigger SUVs with Panda branding that will sit on this platform. These will include a Duster-sized mid-size SUV and even an SUV coupe; both models will be sharing a lot of components in order to achieve competitive pricing. Additionally, there are plans to have a lifestyle pickup truck and an MPV too. There is also the possibility of battery-powered derivatives of these bodystyles in the future. All models in this line-up will have similar styling cues like the Grande Panda. Fiat will introduce one new bodystyle for the Panda family every year.
In India, Stellantis will continue selling the CMP platform-based models under the Jeep and Citroen brands. As we reported recently, Jeep is developing an all-new Creta-rivalling SUV based on the same, and Citroen will also have the upcoming Basalt coupe SUV, joining the C3 and C3 Aircross.
