Tata Nexon Smart+ entry-level AMT variant launched at Rs 10 lakh

Tata Motors has expanded the Nexon compact SUV’s already expansive line-up by adding five new AMT variants. The Nexon petrol-AMT range now starts at Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai) for the Smart+ trim while the diesel-AMT versions are now priced from Rs 11.80 lakh for the Pure trim. At launch, the most affordable Nexon petrol-AMT was priced at Rs 11.70 lakh and the entry point to the diesel-AMT range cost Rs 13 lakh (both based on the mid-spec Creative trim).

Given below are complete prices for the five new Nexon AMT variants.

Tata Nexon AMT features

In terms of features, even the base Nexon Smart+ is well-catered to with things like LED DRLs, a 7-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, four speakers, electrically adjustable ORVMs, drive modes, 6 airbags, ESC and ISOFIX child seat mounts.  

The Pure trim adds features like full LED headlamps and tail lamps, roof rails, rear AC vents, touch-based HVAC controls, wheel covers, a knitted roof liner, a 4-inch digital instrument cluster and voice commands.  Meanwhile, the Pure S packs in a sunroof, auto headlamps and wipers and an electrochromic IRVM over the Pure trim.

Tata Nexon AMT powertrain

Under the hood, the Nexon AMT gets a 120hp, 170Nm, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, which apart from the 6-speed AMT, can also be had with either a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox (with paddle shifters), depending on the variant. The diesel meanwhile, is a 115hp, 260Nm, 1.5-litre unit which is also available with a 6-speed manual.

The Tata Nexon continues to compete with other compact SUVs in our market like the Mahindra XUV300Maruti Suzuki BrezzaMaruti Suzuki FronxHyundai VenueKia SonetRenault Kiger and Nissan Magnite.
