Is this the Royal Enfield Hunter 450?
It's no secret that Royal Enfield is readying a bunch of motorcycles based on the upcoming Himalayan 450’s platform. One of those is a 450cc roadster and fresh spy shots of the same are out on the internet.
- Powered by 450cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine
- Gets 17-inch wheels at both ends
- Telescopic fork instead of USD on the Himalayan 450
Royal Enfield 450cc roadster: what can be seen?
These fresh pics of the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450-based roadster showcase a few design highlights of the bike as well as the stance. While much of the bodywork is draped in camouflage, the large tank appears to have a teardrop shape. The side panels are minimal, while the tail section is similar to what we've seen on Himalayan 450 test mules.
The integrated LED tail-light/turn indicator set-up is very BMW-like and it looks pretty neat as well. What can also be seen in the spy video is that this roadster sports the same LED headlight as seen on the Super Meteor 650 and the upcoming Himalayan 450.
Under the bodywork we can expect to see the Himalayan 450 platform based chassis. Albeit with the necessary tweaks to fit the roadster's application. What is clearly visible is that this test bike's frame is suspended by a telescopic fork and monoshock and it rides on 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends, shod with road-biased rubber. The braking hardware is also likely to be similar to other bikes in the RE 450 lineup.
Lastly, the new liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine is expected to be the same as seen in the Himalayan 450. It might also produce roughly the same power and torque. Whether Royal Enfield makes any changes to the gearing to differentiate it from the Himalayan 450 is something that remains to be seen.
This roadster maybe called the Hunter 450 or RE might christen it with a completely new name. On the other hand, the company is also expected to be working on the Scram 450 and we expect to see more spy shots to emerge in ther future as these test mules hit the road.
