Skoda has added a new 1.5-litre hybrid powertrain to the Octavia, allowing it to run on electric power alone for short periods without being plugged in. It combines a 1.5-litre petrol engine with two electric motors and a 1.6kWh battery, which is charged through braking or by the petrol engine when required.
