KTM 160 Duke: FAQs on price, power and features

Image
The KTM 160 Duke is the newest and most affordable entry into KTM’s lineup in India. Here are answers to some of the most common questions about it. What engine does the KTM 160 Duke use? The KTM 160 Duke is powered by a new 164cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 19hp at 9,500rpm and 15.5Nm at 7,500rpm. The KTM 160 Duke tips the scales at 147kg, making it 12kg lighter than the 200 Duke. This weight saving comes from slimmer frame tubes, a smaller 37mm USD fork, newly designed lightweight wheels, and a marginally lighter engine block. What features does the KTM 160 have? Triumph Thruxton 400: 3 Reasons to buy and 2 to skip

Image
The Triumph Thruxton 400 is a cafe racer version of the Speed 400 and gets clip-on bars, rear-set pegs, and a purposeful stance, but is still relaxed enough for daily use. It sits at the sportier end of Triumph’s 400cc range, positioned as the style-driven alternative to the more practical Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X. While it won’t be mistaken for the larger twin-cylinder Thruxtons, it captures their spirit in a compact, affordable form. Reasons to buy Triumph Thruxton 400 1. Gorgeous Neo-Retro Styling The Thruxton 400 is arguably one of the most authentic-looking café racers in its class. Its sculpted 13-litre fuel tank, humped rear cowl, bar-end mirrors and clip-on handlebars all work together to deliver a design that feels quite retro. Where rivals like the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 rely on displacement and size for presence, the Triumph goes the other way by offering sleekness and performance without compromising on visual drama. 2. Accessible Seat Height, Decent Ri...

Koenigsegg vs Rimac: the ultimate 0-400-0kph rivalry

Image
The battle for the ultimate acceleration record has become a high-stakes duel between two titans of speed: Koenigsegg and Rimac. It is more than just a fight for bragging rights; it is a clash of automotive philosophies, where the blistering power of a V8 engine goes head-to-head with the silent, instant-torque violence of electric propulsion. The metric at the heart of this rivalry is the 0-400-0kph (0-249-0mph) world record - a comprehensive test of a car's ability to not only accelerate with savage speed but also to decelerate with equal ferocity. We take a look at how this record has become the most coveted benchmark in the hypercar world. The Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut has recently reclaimed the 0-400-0kph world record from the Rimac Nevera R . The back-and-forth between these two hypercar manufacturers has been ongoing, with each company pushing the boundaries of automotive performance. Ferrari Approved used car programme: Second coming

Image
On the hallowed ground of Ferrari's test track at Fiorano stands Enzo Ferrari's iconic red-and-white building, the backdrop to all of Ferrari's latest models. Yet, on this particular day, the car on display is nothing new. In fact, it's actually old - or rather, proudly used - and that is the whole point of the line-up of cars I'm going to be driving for the rest of the day. Welcome to Ferrari Approved, the Italian sports car maker's official and comprehensive pre-owned car programme that aims to make Ferraris even more accessible. Let's be honest: Ferraris are becoming ludicrously expensive, and Ferrari knows that, too. Which is why the next best thing to a new Ferrari is a pre-owned one. Or is it? Without knowing the service history, if there are hidden repairs, or if the car has been thrashed within an inch of its life, you could end up buying a white horse - err, elephant - and your dream could quickly turn into a nightmare. That's where Ferrari ...

What’s the ideal upgrade from a Pulsar 220F?

Image
I ride a Bajaj Pulsar 220F and want to upgrade within a Rs 2.5–3 lakh budget. I’m torn between the Pulsar NS400Z, Suzuki Gixxer 250 and KTM 250 Duke. My usage is mostly city rides with the odd long weekend trip. Which should I pick? Sagar Kulkarni, Pune Autocar India says: The NS400Z gives you the most performance per rupee — it’s the most powerful here and a natural upgrade within the Pulsar family. The Gixxer 250 is smoother, more reliable, and comfortable for touring, but not as exciting. The 250 Duke feels the sportiest, with sharp handling and premium features, though it’s less relaxed on the highway. If you want a big leap in performance, the NS400Z is the pick; if refinement and comfort matter more, we would suggest the Suzuki. Toyota Innova: Real muscle

Image
The next time you sit in a Toyota Innova play the guessing game. Get in, set off, and then over the course of the next ten or 15 minutes pay attention to the car. Listen to every squeak, rattle and hum. Pay attention to how the engine sounds, how seamlessly the gears engage, how effortlessly (or not) it rides. Then check the wear on the interior; the gear lever, the door-pads, and even some of the switchgear. Once you’ve done that, try and guess how many kilometers it has done. Spoiler alert, this isn’t easy. Toyota ’s Innova is so robustly built, it ages at a glacial pace. This means you often tend to grossly underestimate the number on the odometer. Why, only recently, after sitting in one for an hour, I guessed it had done roughly 1.8 lakh kilometers; it however had actually done over three lakh plus! I was way off. Toyota engineers say this longevity is all down to core strength. Not too different from what your trainer at the gym tells you, chassis stiffness and strength a...
