Aprilia SR 160, SXR 125 and SXR 160 discontinued

Aprilia has quietly discontinued the SXR 125 and SXR 160 maxi-scooters. Additionally, it has pulled the plug on the SR 160, which has been replaced by the SR 175. While these models have been axed for some time, the brand never formally announced this.

While the SR 160 has long been dropped from the line-up, the brand never formally announced its discontinuation. It has now been replaced by the more powerful, higher-displacement SR 175, which features an uprated engine and a TFT dash shared with the 457 range, while retaining familiar styling for the LED headlight and tail-light. Piaggio India did not formally disclose the SR 175’s launch either. However, it did announce the launch of the SR 175 GP-Replica edition in September.

However, we got our hands on the SR 175 and found it to be a noticeable step up over its predecessor. For reference, Aprilia enlarged the SR 160’s engine to create the new 174.7cc unit, which produces 12.9hp and 14.14Nm – a clear increase over the earlier model’s 11.27hp and 13.44Nm.

While the SR 160 has been replaced by the SR 175, the SXR maxi-scooter range – offered in 125cc and 160cc forms – has been discontinued entirely, with no direct replacement currently in sight. The SXR models featured larger, distinct bodywork, along with 12-inch wheels, unlike the 14-inch wheel setup used on the SR range. However, both SXR models shared their engines with the corresponding SR scooters.

Currently, Aprilia’s SR range largely consists of the 125 and 175 models, priced at Rs 1.14 lakh and Rs 1.21 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Hyundai Exter variant wise powertrain details revealed

Hyundai has officially revealed the upcoming Exter SUV with bookings open for a token amount of Rs 11,000. The Exter will be available in five trims, with two engines and two gearbox options. 390 Duke or Interceptor 650: Best bike for casual riding under Rs 4 lakh?

Looking for advice on which new bike to purchase. Few things to note - Budget is INR 3-4 Lakhs. It will not be my primary mode of transport as I mostly use my car. The bike will be used 60-70 percent for Sunday morning rides, 10-20 percent touring and 10-20 percent maybe the odd office commute or coffee run. Prefer comfortable upright ergonomics.
