Mercedes discontinues A-Class sedan, EQA, EQB, and EQE SUV in India

Mercedes-Benz has discontinued the A-Class Limousine, EQA, and EQB from its India website ahead of the CLA EV launch. This move by the carmaker corroborates our previous report on the same, with the focus now on higher-end models in its portfolio. Additionally, the luxury car giant has also delisted its electric EQE SUV.
An official statement from the carmaker said, “We have completely sold out the existing stock of these models in India. Customers looking for the latest generation BEV, can explore the new CLA, which is the most ‘intelligent Mercedes-Benz ever’ and has created new benchmark in the luxury BEVs, debuting on 24th April.”
- CLA EV and GLA will be the only entry-level models in Mercedes’ lineup
- Carmaker emphasising the higher-end of the luxury segment.
- Entering Mercedes' portfolio will get more expensive
Mercedes to focus on the higher-end of the luxury segment
Carmaker wants to prioritise value over volume
In 2025, Mercedes revealed that it faced a 23 percent drop in the entry-level segment. Instead of competing it out, the brand has chosen to stay away from a price war in the segment, which already faces pressure on margins. “Can we match our rivals selling at a lower price? Maybe not. But we would want to play on our strengths, and we’ll surely prioritise value over volume,” said Santosh Iyer, MD and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, in an earlier interview with Autocar India.
Entry into the Mercedes-Benz range will become pricier
GLA SUV to be the most affordable Merc on sale

With an ex-showroom price ranging between Rs 44.46 lakh and Rs 45.92 lakh, the A-Class was the most affordable entry point into the Mercedes-Benz lineup. With its discontinuation, customers will have to shell out more for the GLA SUV, which is now the most accessible Mercedes on sale, priced at Rs 51.80 lakh to Rs 55 lakh (ex-showroom). Meanwhile, the upcoming CLA EV will consolidate Mercedes' entry-level EV portfolio into just one model. The carmaker says that the CLA EV will have a ‘tentative’ ex-showroom price of Rs 55 lakh to Rs 59 lakh, (ex-showroom), so it definitely wouldn't come cheap.
Mercedes A-Class sedan, EQA, EQB, EQE SUV: a brief look back

The A-Class limousine was launched here in March 2021 and, as mentioned previously, was the most affordable Mercedes-Benz model. It received a facelift in 2023 and was on sale for 5 years. The EQB was the carmaker's first three-row EV, which was first introduced in 2022, facelifted in 2024, and spent over 3 years in the market with a last recorded price range of Rs 70.9 lakh to Rs 77.5 lakh. The EQE SUV was launched in September 2023 as an EV counterpart to the GLE for Rs 1.39 crore, and spent 2.5 years in the market. With a starting price of Rs 66 lakh, the EQA was an EV counterpart to the GLA and Mercedes’ most affordable electric vehicle. It spent less than 2 years in the market, which is quite a short time.
Second-generation GLB to arrive later
To arrive in ICE guise only; Launch date not confirmed yet
While the ICE-powered GLB was discontinued in April 2025, it will return on our roads in a second-generation guise. The second-gen GLB was introduced last year for global markets in ICE and EV versions, but India will only get the ICE-powered version as a full CBU import. A launch timeline, however, has not been confirmed.
