Limited edition Suzuki Katana revealed

Suzuki has revealed a special Katana Limited Edition - hereafter referred to as Katana LE - for the German market and this version is limited to just 45 units. Suzuki has sprinkled in some goodies - both mechanical and visual - to spice up the overall Katana package.

  1. Katana LE makes 152hp and 106Nm from K5-derived four-cyl motor
  2. Gets an Akrapovic slip-on muffler and some cosmetic enhancements
  3. Costs more than the standard bike

It is mechanically identical to the standard Katana

Visually, the silhouette of the Katana LE is identical to the standard bike but it comes in a slightly different paint shade - silver bodywork with bright bronze wheels. The tail section is finished in black here as opposed to the standard bike, where it is body-coloured. With the LE you also get a sticker denoting the number of your particular bike, frame sliders, a carbon-look tank pad, a garage mat with the Katana logo and a book tracing the genesis of the model all the way to the present day bike.

The sole mechanical tweak to the Katana LE comes in the form of a slip-on, road-legal Akrapovic exhaust muffler. While Suzuki claims some aural enhancement from this part, performance hasn’t seen any change. The K5-derived 999cc, liquid-cooled, four-cylinder motor continues to make the same 152hp and 106Nm of torque in the LE. The LE’s chassis components and electronics package too are identical to the standard Katana.

At 15,045 euros (approx. Rs 16.11 lakh), the Katana LE costs a good chunk more than the standard model which retails for 14,400 euros (approx. Rs 15.41 lakh). With availability restricted to just 45 units in the German market, the Katana LE is sure to be rarer than hen’s teeth.
