5 things to know before buying the Ather Rizta S 2.9kWh
The Ather Rizta came into the market back in 2022. It was launched as a family-centric, practical offering based on the 450’s platform. It is available in two variants and two battery pack options. In this story, we will be focusing on the most affordable variant with the smallest battery pack.
1. What is the peak output of the Ather Rizta S 2.9kWh?
The Rizta has a peak power of 4.3kW and peak torque of 22Nm. This is good enough to propel this scooter to a top-speed of 80kph in Zip mode. The peak output and top-speed remains the same irrespective of the variant and battery-pack opted.
2. What is the range of the Ather Rizta S 2.9kWh compared to the larger 3.7kWh battery pack?
The claimed IDC range is 123km for the 2.9kWh battery variants and 159km for the 3.7kWh pack variants. In real-world riding conditions, we found that our long term Rizta Z with the smaller 2.9kWh battery pack does provide a true-range of 105km.
3. What are the charging times of the Ather Rizta S 2.9kWh?

Ather claims a 0-80 percent charging time of 6hr 30min using the home charger provided. This time further increases by 2hrs when charging the battery from 0 to 100 percent.
4. What features does the S variant miss out on compared to the Z?
The S variant sticks to the essentials and comes with an LCD display offering basic connectivity features navigated via the 4-way joystick, while the Z variants are equipped with a 7-inch colour TFT touchscreen that supports Google Maps navigation, WhatsApp message previews, document storage and Bluetooth connectivity through the Ather app. The Z variants also get Magic Twist regenerative braking, traction control, a dual-tone seat and a pillion backrest as standard.
5. What is the price difference between the Ather Rizta S 2.9kWh and Z 2.9kWh?
The Ather Rizta S starts at a price of Rs 1.15 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru), whereas the higher-spec Z model starts at Rs 1.32 lakh, commanding a premium of Rs 17,000.
