Powering the Syros is a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 120hp and 172Nm of torque. The Seltos, however, gets a larger 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, producing lower power and torque figures at 115hp and 144Nm respectively. Moreover, the Syros' engine is paired with a DCT, while the engine on the Seltos is mated to a CVT gearbox.

But the Syros pulls ahead massively with higher-res 12.3-inch infotainment and instrument cluster displays, a 5-inch display for HVAC control, rear seat ventilation (seat base only), sliding and reclining rear seats, dual dashcam, a premium Harmon Kardon 8-speaker sound system, and connected car tech. While the Syros also features a powered driver seat, it offers less adjustability (4-way vs 8-way) in comparison to the Seltos.

The larger and more spacious Seltos is the one to pick
Both the SUVs come well-equipped with features and safety tech, but the Seltos is the one we'd recommend. For an additional Rs 20,000, the Seltos gets more space, and its petrol-CVT powertrain is more refined, drives more smoothly than the Syros' turbo-petrol unit and is well-suited for city use. Additionally, the top HTK+(O) trim of the Syros is only offered in petrol and diesel with automatic gearboxes only. But the mid-spec HTK (O) trm in the Seltos is available in multiple powertrain combinations. Moreover, the Seltos may not have as many convenience features as the Syros, but it gets most of the basic features and safety kit without missing out on much.
