10 quickest Indian bikes as tested

At Autocar India, we’ve put dozens of motorcycles through our testing protocols using a GPS-based data logging system. And what we’ve consistently found is that several motorcycles manufactured in India today, despite typically being lower-capacity offerings, deliver genuinely impressive performance. Here are the 10 quickest bikes made in India, ranked by their 0-100kph times.
10. Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450
0-100kph: 6.59s

The Guerrilla 450 kicks off our list in 10th place. It’s built on the same Sherpa 450 platform as the Himalayan, but in a roadster format. It’s worth noting that we conducted our performance tests in damp conditions, yet the bike still managed an impressive 0-60kph time of 2.96 seconds. The Guerrilla 450 also runs on CEAT Gripp XL tyres – which are geared more towards all-terrain use – and swapping them for more road-focused rubber will likely help shave off a few milliseconds.
9. BSA Gold Star 650
0-100kph: 6.47s

The BSA Gold Star 650 is powered by a 652cc, single-cylinder engine with peak output figures 45hp and 55Nm. Despite a hefty 213kg kerb weight, the bike achieved a 0-100kph time of 6.47 seconds and gets to 60kph in an impressive 2.82 seconds thanks to its healthy torque output. Prices for the Gold Star 650 start at Rs 3.10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
8. Royal Enfield Continental GT 650
0-100kph: 6.45s

The Continental GT 650, with its 648cc parallel-twin producing 47hp and 52.3Nm, edges past the BSA Gold Star 650 by just 0.02 seconds – a negligible difference that could easily come down to the fact that the bikes were tested on different days. Tested back-to-back and with the same rider, it’s likely that whichever comes out on top would simply depend on variations in rider input.
What may not change, however, is that the Continental GT 650, with its lower torque figure, is marginally slower to 60kph than the Gold Star, clocking 2.94 seconds. And if you’re wondering where the Interceptor 650 is, it didn’t make the cut with a 0-100kph time of 6.78 seconds on the same day the Continental GT 650 was tested, with the same rider onboard.
7. Royal Enfield Himalayan 450
0-100kph: 6.35s

Despite being an adventure bike with a tall stance and long-travel suspension, the Himalayan 450 is impressively quick. Interestingly, during our tests, the Himalayan got to 60kph in 2.62s which is exactly the same as what the KTM 390 Adventure achieved – but its performance tapers slightly in the run to 100kph. The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is priced from Rs 3.06 lakh to Rs 3.37 lakh for the Mana Black edition.
6. Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z
0-100kph: 6.26s

The Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z uses a 373cc single-cylinder engine that produces 43hp and 35Nm of torque. The bike was updated in mid-2025 to offer more power and with grippier Apollo H1 tyres. The changes brought clear improvements in performance, with claimed top speed increasing from 150kph to 157kph, and the 0-100kph time dropping from nearly 7.5 seconds to 6.26 seconds. At Rs 1.92 lakh, it’s also the most affordable bike on this list.
5. KTM 390 Enduro R
0-100kph: 5.90s

The KTM 390 Enduro R is the most off-road oriented variant of the 390 platform. Despite its longer suspension travel and off-road tyres, the 390 Enduro R achieves 0-100kph in 5.9 seconds, making it the first motorcycle to breach the 6 second mark. The 399cc, single-cylinder engine produces 46hp and 39Nm, and the bike's relatively light weight helps it deliver strong acceleration. The 390 Enduro R is priced at Rs 3.39 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
4. KTM 390 Adventure
0-100kph: 5.80s

Despite weighing 5kg more than the Enduro R it shares its platform with, the 2025 KTM 390 Adventure is actually slightly quicker to 100kph. Both bikes were tested by the same rider in similar conditions, so this advantage likely comes down to the more road-oriented tyres on the 390 Adventure. As mentioned earlier, the bike is on par with its closest rival, the Himalayan 450, up to 60kph, but that gap widens to nearly half a second by the time they hit 100kph. The KTM 390 Adventure is priced at Rs 3.95 lakh.
3. KTM 390 Duke
0-100kph: 5.21s

The latest-generation KTM 390 Duke takes the final podium spot and has long been the performance benchmark in its segment. Its 399cc single produces output figures similar to the platform-mates mentioned above, but the Duke’s lighter weight makes it noticeably quicker to 100kph. It also hits 60kph in just 2.21 seconds, which, in our tests, was quicker than the Aprilia RS 457’s 2.29-second run. The KTM 390 Duke is priced at Rs 2.98 lakh.
2. Aprilia RS 457
0-100kph: 4.99s

The Aprilia RS 457 is powered by a 457cc parallel-twin engine that produces 47.6hp and 43.5Nm, and in our tests with traction control disabled, it hit 60kph in 2.29s. It’s also the first bike on this list to crack the 5-second barrier for a 0-100kph run with a time of 4.99s. Despite being the most expensive bike here with a price tag of Rs 4.54 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the RS 457 offers performance that rivals bikes costing significantly more.
1. Aprilia Tuono 457
0-100kph: 4.88s

The Aprilia Tuono 457 takes the crown as the quickest made-in-India motorcycle we’ve tested. The naked sibling to the RS 457 shares the same 457cc parallel-twin engine and even matches its weight at 175kg (kerb). However, the Tuono runs shorter gearing with a larger rear sprocket, and that’s likely why it’s quicker to 100kph. If you were to keep the throttle pinned and push both bikes towards their top-end performance, the RS 457 would likely edge ahead, provided there’s enough runway.
