No Honda Activa e: and QC1 scooters manufactured since August

Honda has stopped production of its Activa e: and QC1 electric scooters since August 2025, according to data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). The production halt came just six months after the Japanese manufacturer entered our electric two-wheeler market in February 2025.
- Zero production recorded for August, September, and October 2025
- Only 5,201 units sold out of 11,168 units manufactured
- Only 740 units of Activa e: sold since February
Honda Activa e: and QC1: What's gone wrong?
Lack of home-charging and limited battery station network likely contributing to slow sales
Between February and July 2025, Honda produced 11,168 total units of the electric Activa e: and QC1. However, with only 5,201 units (46.6 percent) dispatched to dealers, the company is sitting on significant unsold inventory, which could be the reason for halting production.
Since production began, the QC1 has vastly outsold the Activa e:, accounting for 86 percent of sales, with 4,252 units sold compared to just 698 units of the Activa e:. A major reason could be the QC1’s lower price and the convenience of a portable charger, whereas the Activa e: relies solely on Honda’s swappable battery network.
Speaking of, the Activa e: is currently available only in Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi – the three cities where Honda has established its battery swapping infrastructure. In contrast, the QC1 is available in six cities – Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, and Chandigarh.
Another possible contributor to the slow adoption is the comparatively modest performance and range of both scooters when compared against similarly priced, well-established rivals like the TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak. The production stoppage could suggest that Honda may be reassessing its electric vehicle strategy for India. Whether the company will ramp up production again or make changes to its product lineup and infrastructure remains to be seen.
