Mahindra XEV 9S exterior design and dimensions
Design language is closer to the XEV 9e and not as radical as the BE 6

The XEV 9S borrows several design cues from the Mahindra XEV 9e and the XUV.e8 concept that was unveiled in 2022. It has a clean and modern design that showcases its electric SUV identity without being flashy.
XEV 9S features a closed-off grille, connected DRLs, triangular LED headlamps, and a long bonnet that give it a chunky front profile. The side profile is dominated by a long wheelbase of 2,762mm and ample overhangs of 915mm in the front and 1,099mm at the rear, which help maximise cabin and luggage space and give the SUV a balanced stance. The rear is simple and upright, with smoked LED tail lamps and a redesigned bumper.
In terms of size, the XEV 9S is slightly larger than the XEV 9e, with a wider wheelbase that improves interior space. Ground clearance stands at 219mm and is SUV-appropriate, as is the 1,745mm height. With the third-row folded down, Mahindra says there's 527 litres worth of boot space, and the frunk can hold up to 150 litres of luggage.
As with Mahindra’s INGLO-based models, the XEV 9S will wear the carmaker’s ‘butterfly’ emblem.
Mahindra XEV 9S: interior and features
Panoramic sunroof, Harman Kardon sound system and triple screen layout
The cabin of the XEV 9S features a triple-screen layout similar to Mahindra’s BE range, with a full-width digital instrument cluster and central infotainment display and two additional screens for second-row passengers mounted on the front seats. Higher variants also get an augmented reality HUD.
All variants offer sliding and reclining second-row seats, the aforementioned three-screen setup, an openable panoramic sunroof (unlike the fixed glass roofs in the BE 6 and XEV 9e) and the frunk. Other trims have a Boss mode to adjust the front seats, along with a Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) feature among other connected-car features . The electric SUV also comes with ADAS features, auto parking capabilities and a droziness detector on top trims. Mahindra also offers a Harman Kardon sound system, multi-colour ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control and leatherette seat upholstery.

Mahindra XEV 9S: Rivals
Stands alone in the 3-row electric SUV space
The XEV 9S is the first mass-market 3-row electric SUV, so it won’t face any direct competition, at least initially. The only other 3-row EVs available this side of Rs 50 lakh are the Kia Carens Clavis EV and BYD eMax 7, both of which are MPVs and, therefore, not comparable to the XEV 9S. Prices of the XEV 9S overlap with the Tata Harrier EV Empowered 75 AWD trim.
