Is BYD Sealion 7 worth nearly Rs 20 lakh more than Mahindra XEV 9e?

BYD Sealion 7 vs Mahindra XEV 9e

I recently test drove the Mahindra XEV 9e and it has bowled me over. I've read that the Tata Harrier EV is equally impressive, if not more, and that's the next car I'll be test driving. My question is these EVs are so good, does it even make sense to consider the BYD Sealion 7 (RWD) version for nearly 70 percent more.

Autocar India says: Mahindra and Tata have made remarkable progress in recent years, especially in terms of quality, technology, performance, and overall packaging. Their products now offer a ride and handling balance that rivals global brands costing two to three times more. That said, the BYD Sealion 7 still stands out as the more polished offering, particularly when it comes to fit and finish, comfort, and overall refinement. It performs its duties with a level of finesse that Indian EVs like the Mahindra XUV 9e and Tata Harrier EV occasionally struggle to match – largely due to lingering software glitches.

While both Indian manufacturers are proactive in their approach to address these issues, such hiccups can take away from the overall ownership experience. In contrast, the BYD feels more cohesive and well-rounded from the start. So, if your budget allows, the fully-imported Sealion 7 delivers a distinctly more premium experience that justifies the stretch.
