TVS is gearing up to update the Apache RTR 160 2V and the Apache RTR 180 models, as per a teaser on the company’s social media. Both of these models are quite old and have only seen incremental and emission-compliance related changes over the many years they have been on sale.

  1. Apache 160 was first launched in 2007, 180 came in 2009
  2. Both models enjoy strong demand in certain regions of India

TVS Apache RTR 160 2V and Apache 180 to be updated soon

Engine and underpinnings of both bikes are now well over a decade old

Of late, TVS has been updating its model range to comply with the latest OBD-2B emission norms and also peppering the bikes with some updates in the process. The Apache RR 310 and more recently, the Apache RTR 200 4V were updated in a similar fashion. In particular, the Apache 200 was endowed with a new 37mm gold-finish USD fork.

We believe that TVS is gearing up to update its duo of ‘old guard’ Apache models - the 160 2V and 180 - in a similar manner. It remains to be seen if there will be any changes in output in the transition to OBD2B compliance for these yesteryear engines. For reference, the Apache 160 2V’s 160cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor is rated for 16hp at 8,750rpm and 13.85Nm at 7,000rpm, while the Apache 180’s 177cc mill is rated for 17hp at 9,000rpm and 15.5Nm at 7,000rpm.

TVS Apache RTR 160 2V and Apache RTR 180 price

Currently, pricing for the TVS Apache RTR 160 2V ranges between Rs 1.21 lakh - Rs 1.31 lakh, while the Apache 180 is available in a single variant priced at Rs 1.35 lakh. These bikes may be properly dated now but both still continue to enjoy strong demand in certain pockets across India, which is why TVS has still kept them on sale and continues to periodically update these models. With this update, it remains to be seen whether the company increases the price of the bikes.

All prices ex-showroom, Delhi
